Unlike free zones where the free zone authority acts as your sponsor, mainland employment visas are directly governed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). This means mainland companies must adhere strictly to UAE Labor Law, including the Wage Protection System (WPS) and Emiratisation quotas (for larger companies).
The most critical aspect of mainland visas is that your visa quota is directly linked to your physical office space. The general rule of thumb is that the DED allocates 1 visa for every 8 to 9 square meters of leased office space, verified via your Ejari tenancy contract. If you need more staff, you must upgrade to a larger office.
